Buffy the Vampire Slayer Classic is the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer comic book series. It was originally published by Dark Horse Comics from September 1998 to November 2003.

Premise [ ]

Aside from the adventures Buffy and the Scooby Gang had on the TV series, they battled many other vampires, demons, and forces of darkness in this comic book series.

Continuity [ ]

The series covered various events in a period from summer 1997 to early 2002 (stories from season 1 to season 6), as well as prequels taking place in 1996.
It also had spin-off miniseries: The Origin, Angel: The Hollower, Oz, Haunted, and Willow & Tara: Wilderness.
Some issues are parallel to the Angel Dark Horse series — promoted through crossover comics —, as well as a number of Buffy the Vampire Slayer novels.

Buffy Summers has faced vampires, demons, and monsters, but now she must face the scariest thing of all: the divorce of her parents. No vampire is safe as the tortured young Slayer takes her anger and frustrations to the streets of L.A., all the while being closely watched by the mysterious vampire with a soul, known as Angel. In a failed attempt to alleviate her pain, Angel accidentally unleashes the Malignancy Demons upon her and her family, each of which personifies and draws its power from particular bad feelings.

When Buffy is restored to life, she undertakes a secret mission with Angel, and all the loose ends are tied up with Buffy's trip to hell, bringing an end to an amazing four-year run of Buffy comics.

The comic series was originally simply titled as Buffy the Vampire Slayer; with the publishing of the canon continuation Season Eight, these original stories were reprinted as "Omnibus," but then a distinction was necessary. The publication of the Classic digital collection is the origin for the new entitlement to these comics as "classics."
